What is Connection Point?
This one night class will provide you with everything you need to know about our church’s beliefs, practices, and how you can play a part. You will also meet some of our staff and leaders and the beginnings of community will begin to take root with other new members in the class. By attending the class, you are NOT making the commitment of becoming a member, although you will have the opportunity to at the end of the class.
When is the Next Connection Point?
Connection Point classes are held quarterly. Contact us for more information.
Membership Covenant
Having received Christ as my Savior and seeking to walk in obedience to His Lordship, and being in agreement with the core values and theology of Shelby Crossings, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the Shelby Crossings faith family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:
I Will Protect the Unity of My Church
By acting in love toward other members
By refusing to gossip and resolving conflicts using Matthew 18:15-17
By following the leaders
Scripture References:
“So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual up building.” Romans 14:19, “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart.” 1 Peter 1:22, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29,“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”Hebrews 13:17
I Will Share the Responsibility of My Church
By praying for her growth
By going to the un-churched and inviting them to Jesus and his community.
By warmly welcoming all
Scripture References:
“We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers.” 1Thes 1:2, And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.’ Luke 14:23, “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” Romams 15:7
I Will Serve the Ministry of My Church
By discovering my gifts and talents
By being equipped to serve by my pastors
By developing a servant’s heart
Scripture References:
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10, “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12, “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4
I Will Support the Testimony of My Church
By attending faithfully
By living a growing and godly life
By giving regularly
Scripture References:
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Heb 10:24-25, “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.” Philippians 1:27, “On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.” 1 Corinthians 16:2, “Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the LORD’s, it is holy to the LORD.” Leviticus 27:30
